How Much Polish and Sealant Do I Need?

First, I want to thank everyone who helped me in my last thread. On a related note, I plan on using a polish and sealant on my truck. It’s a large truck, so I’m not sure if I should get the 8 oz, or 32 oz bottles of Blackfire polish and sealant. Any suggestions? Thanks.

As Mike said in your last thread, 8oz of any cleaner or polish will be all but used up as more liquid is required during this step. 8oz will be more than enough for a wax or sealant because you’ll be spreading it very thin on the paint surface and may only amount to 1oz of product being used for example. That being said you should be good with 8oz of both products but will be cutting it close with the cleaner or polish.

Thanks for the advice. After reviewing your advice and others, I decided to go with the BF One Step and the Griots G9 5.5 inch Flat Pad Complete Kit.

That’ll be a great combo! One Step is easily one of the best AIO and the Griots will give you all the power you need. Keep us updated!

Another thing to remember is this:

This machine polishing is not rocket science.

I know that with all the head-spinning info and opinions on here, it may seem to be at times, but it really is not.

With your machine/product choices, you already have a head-start from where I was about 6 years ago as a noob.

Watch Mike's vids, read his books, ask the AGO forum, etc. about certain basic processes, and then just go to town on your car/truck.

If you have ever used a power tool, you will quickly find how easy using the polisher is in the first 3 minutes.

Certain techniques/preferences/product choices will come in time, but to start just remember this: HAVE FUN!!

If this hobby isn't fun, then what's the point?
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Re: How Much Polish and Sealant Do I Need?

I can easily get 2-3 vehicles worth out of a smaller bottle of McKees 360 and that's full size trucks and SUVs. The 32oz blackfire should be good for quite a few applications to your truck.

A couple small dots on the pad is all you'll need.

More important: Buy as many pads as you can. Clean pads will give you the best results. On my truck I usually use 6-8 depending on how much correction I need.
