    Cannot find isopropyl alcohol anywhere

Hi all...Since I'm stuck in the house for the foreseeable future, I thought it would be a great opportunity to really take my time and do my Spring details. I am having one problem though. I cannot find IPA anywhere to perform my wipe down after polishing. Does anyone out there have any substitutes? Preferably something I could by through the mail or at my local Home Depot.

    Thanks in advance.

Auto Geek- Your Car Wax SuperStore, Car Wax, Auto Detailing Supplies , Car Accessories, Car Buffers Store, We Are Car Care

I prefer CarPro Eraser because it works, smells yummy and doesn't really take that much.
It glides better than IPA and is absolutely safe to use VS IPA. After seeing some of the damage IPA can do I will never use it.

CarPro Eraser will work or an auto body supply house will have wipe down products.

    Preps-All at any PBE Store.

Also lot of panel wipes at Autogeek.com, and these in my opinion are a LOT better than IPA.

IPA is not a good lubricant.

People are using IPA to make home made hand sanitizer and to sanitize in general.

Yeah Isopropyl will cost you more than any of the panel wipes you could use.

Car pros Eraser definitely better than Gyeon Prep. lots of people seem to like Gtechniq Panel Wipe.

Most of these will cost you $20 for 32 ounce bottles. If I were to do it all again I would pick up Maguires and 122 surface prep for about 40 bucks for a gallon.

You may be able to find these at your local automotive store but best bet is to order directly from auto geek.

Are you going to be applying a Coating
after polishing? I can see doing a panel
    wipe-down, if that’s the case.

    Otherwise:
If a different type of LSP (such as a Wax or a
Sealant) is going to be used; and they do not
specifically call for a panel wipe prior to their
application; then a panel wipe would not be
necessary, IMO. That would also be a prime
example of “working backwards”, again IMO.

I don't know where you are located but 2 days ago I was at Walmart in Norwalk, CT and they had 70% alcohol, small bottles though, not the large ones. No restrictions on how many you can buy, a little expensive than usual.

Another vote for Eraser or Gyeon Prep since I've actually used them.

Since I bought my last bottle of Eraser, I think several other brands here on AG like Wolfgang, Blackfire, Poorboys World, IGL, etc have released their own panel prep.

Like Mike mentioned, I'd use any of those all day long due to the added lubrication they provide. After working so hard to perfect the paint the last thing I'd want to do is mar the surface while trying to prep it for a coating.

I’ll toss Meguiar’s M122 which is quite affordable at the gallon size and does the job.

I found Gyeon Prep a little weak compared to others.
