    Re: Dealer Paint protection

Yeah it's not necessary. Most cars now come covered with plastic and heat shields from end to end and come undercoated from factory. The only parts exposed are the exhaust and control arms/links/joints etc. but some customers really really want undercoating covering everything underneath even if you don't try to sell it. We do get pretty bad winters here though and the roads are covered with salt and gravel so we still get a fair amount of rust damage...and paint damage...and carpets/mats with salt on them

    Re: Dealer Paint protection

The bottle is labelled " First Canadian Protection Products" Paint Finish Restorer. 250 ml. Only instructions on the label, no content breakdown, It tells me to refer to MSDS and I went to the ebsite and it doesnt seem to be there. There is a small number in the bottom right of the label....R-0410. Thats it. I didnt ask for this to be applied, my dear wife did it as a present, paint, upholstry protection, extended warranty and a set of snow tires on rims, it was done out of caring so I done need to be berated, I was hoping all you armchair experts would be able to help me.

That's what we have and what we're supposed to use. It's just a sealant.

    Re: Dealer Paint protection

The Maintenenace sheet says not to use petroleum products on the finish and dont use a real chamois as it has oil and will dull the finsh. So...... My plan is this summer to claybar, clean and seal with my regular products. I wont screw the paint up then if I do this?

Nope you won't screw up your paint. Actually by the time summer comes that sealant might not even be on your paint anymore

Using the clay bar just might instill marring though and then you’ll have to polish.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

Compound and polish that dealer installed crapola off of the car and apply your own product. My brother-in-law bought a brand new Kia Stinger and he was all proud of himself that he got a "deal" on the Simoniz coating. Now it is all scratched up. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he got taken.
