Are (some) Mckee and Optimum products the same?

As I am recently leaning about detailing and the products used, I had watched several Yvan Lacroix videos about Optimum products.

Then I came across this video of Yvan Lacroix doing a car wash with Mckee's 37 products.

It was like Deja vu, everything was the same as I had seen before. Interchanging the product names, it was like an Optimum video. Same methods (e.g. clay+wax), and same language like "synergy", "designed to work together", "dirt washing right off the mitt".

I would guess that (at least) the products in the video (rinseless wash, spray wax, spray sealant) are the exact same - just branded differently.

Curious if that could be the case?

I recall Nick had tried to use OCW as the measuring bar for Mckees Fast Wax, but I’ve used both quite a bit and they aren’t the same. OCW is more substantial and lasts a lot longer.

I don’t recall Optimum having a RW or another spray (wax or sealant) that would compare to Mckees Wash and Wax, N-914, or what I assume would be Mckees Trademark Extender Spray Wax.

Sorry, To didn’t watch the video, just going off memory with this response. I also didn’t look up Optimum comparable... lazy night but I’m interested so wanted to post!

I don’t think so, there’s no magic products and you can use any brand the same as Yvan. Yvan is good at what he does but he’s a salesman, therefore you get the same buzz words from product to product. What he is good at is keeping thing simple and gets the most uses out of products

IMO:

•There may be some brands whose products’
chemical compositions might be eerily similar
to other brands’ products; but to what extent?


•There are only so many ingredients/chemicals
that can go into any one bottle/container of, say,
detailing products—products such as: shampoos/
cleaners; compounds/polishes; Sealants/Waxes; etc.


•However, that doesn’t mean that there are only
a few select chemicals that can be formulated to
create products that will dutifully perform in their
designated class of products. In fact:

-There are actually a multitudinous amount of
chemicals to which each Brand may access to
formulate their products.

-These chemicals are, after all, just consumable
goods that can be tweaked to satisfy each Brand’s
management/marketing/profitability plans-of-action.

I know he’s essentially just a salesman for hire, but watching him in that McKees 37 video just felt wrong.

Agree, I still think of him being associated with Optimum products.
