I've seen coin op places do some funny things to vehicles over the years. That the water quality at these places leaves a lot to be desired.
I've on a couple of occasions even heard rumor that some of these places use recycled water. Maybe another term could be non-potable water?
They also offer a “Spot Free Rinse” option, making them probably the least possible place you’d wind up getting water spots at.
