Color Code you microfiber?

Need to stock up on my microfiber towels* and remember vaguely over the years hearing about folks colour coding to avoid cross contamination. Don’t have a system myself currently and wondering if y’all have a system? If so, what is it?

*some of my towels are about 12 years old, another order from about 6 years ago or so, and just onesies and twosies since. Definitely no organization other than a couple of different broad categories involved.

I color code. The Red MF are my Compound, Polish and wax remover. My Light blues (discontinued but my favorite MF Towels) are SPECIFICALLY wax, sealant removal. If I do a coating and wipe down the coating, I usually trash the MF towel (Reds). I have a dedicated drying towel as well as window MF towels.

But 12 years old? Maybe you should update them! KEEP ON ROCKING!

I like to have a system.

Washing: Black for wheels, wheel wells, and side steps. Gray for paint. (My truck is gray, so it's a natural choice and easy to remember).

As for waterless/rinseless washes, I use blue.

For just about anything else, I have a few different colors depending on the task.

Sure do have a system.
All the yellow ones are expendable(Costco), the other colors aren't.

Im a little nuttier than the previous posters lol

Yellow - Dressing
Dark Blue - Interior cleaning
White - Carpet & Fabric
Tan - Leather
Light Blue - Windows
Red - Door Jams & Engines
Black - Wheels, tires, wheel wells.

Then Wax towels are multiple colors but more plush than the rest of the above
Same with WW/RW they are mostly Orange Eagle Edgeless

I do but its by type. I have paint towels, glass towels, trim towels, tire towels, then white cotton for dirty stuff. Then I loosely color code in that. Then I have downgraded paint towels that I use for different things. It all depends how much room you have and how crazy you want to get with it. Me, I'm all in right now lol.

Edit: If I had to buy everything from scratch knowing what I know now I would color coat more strictly but towel type needs to be involved to. The best towels and the worst towels you have probably won't be the same type

I don’t really color code or strictly set them into different categories.

I use my Costco towels for rinseless and waterless washing since they’re kind of the most well worn ones, and I pretty much use my creature edgeless towels for everything else. Polish or wax removal, sometimes rinseless, drying aid, you name it.

I do have black towels, but I use them for cleaning anything that isn’t my paint. Whether that be seats, carpets, or wheels (I know these are painted but I couldn’t care less about them.)

I think if I really wanted to do some type of color coding I’d be inclined to, based off my current preferences, just use the creature edgeless for everything and have maybe a couple colors. Maybe blue for polish/wax removal, drying aid, etc. the grey ones for rinseless/waterless. I’d still keep my black towel around for wheels and other dirty jobs.

I’ve a sneaking suspicion the edgeless 365 is the towel they make that’s meant for me. I really enjoy the creature edgeless and the minx, but sometimes they’re just a lot more plush than I want. The edgeless 300 might even be what I’m looking for.

I'm trying to progress to color codes on my MF towels but for now, all I've got is my towels that touch paint separate from all the other towels.

My system is, green for washing (I do waterless & rinseless washes), black for wheels, running boards & engine bay, blue for windows, yellow for interior, purple for wax, sealant, polish.

New Yellow (Costcos) - interior
Used/Stained Yellow (Costcos) - door jams, etc.
Black - Wheels, lower body cladding (black plastic)
White - glass towels
Green (Forrest Green Edgeless) - wax/sealant removal
Blue (Sky Blue Edgeless) - rinseless wash
Purple (Super Plush Deluxe) - buffing
Gray (PFM's) - drying

I have a separate tote for each, thanks to a big clearance blowout HD had on their previous-gen Husky storage totes.
