Ah, the ol “gas station scrub down”....I see it here in Michigan from time to time. Usually in winter and the car is covered in salt. D’oh!

Good news....dealers man with a towel didn’t touch my car!! I was getting worried since it was taking so long for the service too, I was sweating bullets!

That’s really great! They listened. I guess you can continue going back there.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

I know, right!
We are in a very, very small minority though. The vast majority of people simply don't care one way or the other, they see a shiny car and all is OK with the world. We see swirls, marring, etching, gross incompetence and on and on and on. Maybe they have something on us there after all, LOL

I left a little note in my car today when it went in for a service. Happily my wish was granted.

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!
As a dealership guy I have some input here.
99% of our customers want a wash
Of those, 25% DEMAND a wash even in freezing weather. The service porters don’t dry the cars.
I manage the new car clean up crew and I handle the paint correction and now detailing of the rental fleet when they come out of service. My guys are paid the bare minimum regardless of how good they are or could be. They have marginal quality stuff to work with. I have about 2 complaints a month and those are usually on cars that are pretty darned clean.
I’m slowly making headway on getting them to pay for an acceptable cleaning but the vast majority of cars are swirled out, water spotted, unprotected vehicles that go to customers that are happy to have a new car.
I personally LOVE when a customer has an honest complaint about the work my guys put out. When they complain, I get paid (I’m commission) to correct the defects and deliver a high quality product.
I pay out of pocket for my supplies and tools. In the last 3 months I’ve spent at least 3k gearing up for my project to try and turn the place into an actual detail shop and generate more commission.
Some dealership guys care but it’s hard for them to justify the price of paying for work that the majority of people don’t care about. It’s sad to say but honestly most of the general public don’t care how awful that new car really is as long as the tires are shiny.

That’s unacceptable, as Bill D said, I wouldn’t let them touch your car again. Obviously there is a communication problem. Write to corporate, dealer won’t care. That makes me upset and it’s not even mine.
My goal in life is to love God, family and myself. To love others and treat others right.
