You should still do it before they polish. After years the bonded contaminants are on your coating (or whatever is left of it), not under it. So you're just removing those in order for them to polish without adding more swirls. The polish will remove whatever is left and give you a surface that is ready to accept a new coating. After a prep wipe, of course.

Still say if your gonna spend $300 buy a g8 and do it yourself. Not hard at all just gotta be a little careful.

Re: applying ceramic for the first time,
If it’s already polished I’d not use Iron-X/Trix. Save it for when Lite is done and you’re getting the car ready for a new application.

Note a pro buy any means but I parked in a holiday in parking lot for like 15 mins......
Applying trix and iron X twice prolly over kill.
I would:
Pressure wash
Foam cannon if you have
Wash (I like to use one wash bucket with 7-8 MF mitts)
Dry
Iron X
Rinse
Trix where needed
Rinse
Dry.
Then IPA. I like CP Eraser or Gyeon prep over IPA. Don’t know if it’s actually better but made for that prep.
Also don’t remember who posted above but really all this should be done before polish. Lil overkill to do again after but a Geek’s gotta geek.... go for it and good luck
And remember polish and oil removal most important so invest in one of the above mentioned.... actually maybe Gtechnic panel wipe.... ice heard good things...

Why? If it is going back home after the detail shop then it won't have time for ferrous contaminants to get on the paint.
If anything wash it with a soap that contains no wax, prep wipe (Eraser or equivalent) and coat. IPA is ok but it won't have enough lubrication which could potentially marr the surface. Get yourself some Eraser and use that after a wash.
No need to overthink or complicate the process.
