Wash or dry after clay bar?

    Hi guys

Is there a preferred method or procedure for when you have finished clay barring?

    Do you wash?
    Do you rinse?
Do you dry with a microfiber?

    Thanks

Re: Wash or dry after clay bar?

Lately what I have been doing is rinsing after wash then using the last clean mitt to soap the car in front of the clay bar.
I use the multiple mitt approach so the soap is clean.

That way I just rinse it again after claying and don't really use any other product in the process.
The clay step is only done when a polishing step follows.

Depends on what you are using for a clay lube. The soap based ones will require a rinse and/or wash after. I like car pro immolube, and it is soapy. If you are using something like ONR or a QD, you can just wipe off with a MF towel.

I'll at least give it a rinse but I also use Immolube which I will do a full (although 'quickly') wash to get it off

Immolube is nice. From using it creates suds when using a clay mitt. Not so much with a clay bar. At the same time it leaves residue behind but also a sticky feeling on the towels or on the hand. CarPro recommends going over the surface with Eraser to remove the residue. It may take a few more towels for this. A waterless wash like McKee's N914 also works to clean the surface from Immolube.

Washing or rinsing is unnecessary in my opinion. A panel wipe such as Eraser or equivalent is sufficient to remove clay lube.

Wash or dry after clay bar?

I clayed my own car last night.. Did I “wash or rinse” the car after the clay process? Absolutely not. And If I won’t even do it on my own car [which is getting the royal treatment] then you can bet I’ll never feel the need to do it on any vehicle.

-I did however wash & dry before the iron decon step, then washed & dried the car again prior to claying... So yes I’m still anal, but only when it matters!Wash or dry after clay bar?

I used a claybar on the hood.

And a Medium Grade Nanoskin Claymitt for the rest of the car. My claylube of choice is Megs D114.

IMO it’s completely unnecessary to do anything besides wipe the claylube dry with a microfiber drying towel. And the results? The results speak for themselves.Wash or dry after clay bar?[note how there’s absolutely no clay marring because like I’ve always said, the odds of clay marring are slim to none as long as you do it right!]Wash or dry after clay bar?Wash or dry after clay bar?

For customers I only clay if I am doing a correction, and will use a clay towel as part of a rineseless wash - wash panel, spray with Immolube, clay panel, wipe with plush waffle-weave towel, spray panel with Eraser, and dry with waffle-weave towel. Washed, clayed, and prepped in just a few minutes.
