I know nothing about lighting. Are these bulbs worth it?

I'm not a professional detailer. Just a hobbyist who enjoys taking care of my own car. I have a Scangrip MatchPen light for close inspections, but my garage suffers from one-old-two-bulb-ugly-light-fixture-in-the-middle-of-the-ceiling syndrome. And I know nothing about lighting.

I'd love to know -- to improve the general overall working light -- if these bulbs are worth installing or worthless.

Thanks for shedding some light on this (sorry)

Cant speak to those specific bulbs/lamps but my garage has the same cr@ppy setup as you (and most everyone) w/ 2 lamp holders on the ceiling.

    I got these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Which are a bit 'warmer' in color (at 3000K color). Overall amount of light is quite good w/o needing sunglasses

The ones you're looking at are going to be VERY bright @ 8000lumens (x2) and the color is going to be a very sterile looking blue/white. I'm not overly convinced of the utility of being able to adjust the 3 'bat wings'.

Amz has a liberal return policy. Get one and try it. *Anything* is better than the usual 2x 60w incand. bulbs that are usually found in garage. ** Just remember to have sunglasses nearby **

Is the old T8 or T12 shop light plugged into a duplex receptacle?

If so get a 6 outlet adapter for it.

Amazon has these (Pack of 8) LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture 4FT,20W,2200lm,6500K (Super Bright White),Utility led Shop Light, LED Ceiling light and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch.

Get at least 2 sets and start laying out a pattern.
I found this to be the best least expensive bright garage scenario.

I don’t see indication that the OP has T8/T12 style fixtures, just the 2 standard ceramic lamp holders for Edison base bulbs.

Those look very interesting, and at that price are certainly worth a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.

I suppose it depends how much work you want to put into it.

You can connect 6,4foot strips in line. With A19 plug adapters 12 of these at 2200 lumens each will light it up.

Being able to spread them out would offer a more even light distribution.

A four head A19 bulb holder works great and lets you adjust them somewhat.
I put 4, 1500 lumen, 100 watt equivalent LED,5000k Sylvania bulbs in it. I have 3 of these.

Re: I know nothing about lighting. Are these bulbs worth it?

To close the loop on this thread, I wound up buying these bulbs because I liked the form factor better than the corn-style. I thought they would work better in my two-horizontal-bulb fixture.

The light output is crazy at 4000 lumens each, and I like the 5000k temperature as its close to daylight which is 5200k. I'm going to have a simple single-bulb fixture installed so I can separate the two bulbs for more even dispersion in the garage.

Thanks to all who chimed in on this topic. My family now thinks I am certifiably insane. Mission accomplished.
