I obviously get that.
What I don’t get is why would you dismiss the idea of putting a coating on a car that will sit outside 24/7.
If a sealant is truly what the OP wants then PNS or FK1000P are good choices.

Sorry, must have misread when you said "DIY coating".

Ditto... This is my regimen. It's been a year, but my car is garage kept, but I still don't feel, or see, the need to perform another polish and seal at this time.
With that said, a DIY coating is probably the way to go. I've been looking at CarPro and GTechniq and I am tempted to pull the trigger... but I've got sooooo much BlackFire One Step and PNS left.... I don't want to waste them.

Add Cancoat to your research, a few people here are planning to ride out the winter using it.

Due to the ‘conditions’ your vehicle will be

Re: Searching for the best sealant as stand alone product
Thank you for all of the responses! This is why I love this forum.
In regards to why I am not doing a traditional ceramic coating. I have read mixed reviews on all of the coatings in regards to durability. I do not want to pay $1K + for something that will last a year. Additionally I have no indoor space to detail and am worried about the results I will get applying ceramic coat outside.
I think I am sold on Sonax PNS. I have a small bottle of it and will be giving it a try this weekend.
Would you guys recommend anything more than a wash and ironx/tar x?
The paint is so thin that i would like to skip the polishing portion if at all possible.

Wash>IronX>Clay>Sealant
Prepping the paint by removing all contamination is the key to getting the most durability out of your chosen LSP.
It’s not necessary to polish if you’re happy with the condition of your paint (i.e. swirls and scratches). Polishing or using a chemical paint cleaning product would help remove any embedded road grime however. Getting the paint as clean as possible is what the goal should be prior to sealing it with a wax, sealant, or coating.
Why would a 2019 model year car have too thin paint to polish? You certainly don’t have to compound or polish it ever if you don’t want to, but unless you have gone over it with a paint thickness gauge to determine it’s too thin I would be skeptical of your assessment.

Re: Searching for the best sealant as stand alone product
I dont do a traditional ceramic sealant, never have. I get great 6+ month longevity out of collinite paste wax, using a spray wax after washes. I have the 915, 476, and the 845. 915 looks awesome, but 476 last the longest. It's my winter go to now. I literally have water beading at 6 months or more with collinite products.
Many others on this forum have as well.
I am going to do a winter write up with my car this winter, using only collinite and d156 spray wax (might do a 50/50 on the car)

You can get a ceramic coating you apply yourself for around50$. I have not use sonax PNS but things I’ve read negative although rare is that it beads awesome but doesn’t self clean too well.
