    Exterior Plastics Detailer/Protection

I have a new vehicle and am looking for a recommendation for a exterior plastics detailer/protection. I see a lot of products reviewed for renewing exterior plastics - but I'm looking for a product to detail and protect plastics on a new vehicle.

I like to use the Blackfire Wax Remover to prep the plastic trim before protecting it with the Blackfire Tire & Trim Sealant. It's a great combo! Blackfire Plex Pro would be a light cleaner & protectant in one easy step.

    McKee's 37 Plastic Trim Restorer

Has never done me wrong. Excellent durability. Does not streak or run when it get's wet. Now is the time to apply it while the vehicle is new.

Is your trim brand new and already perfect? You can keep it that way with McKee's 37 Plastic Trim Restorer! Prevent all of the downfalls listed above by simply protecting your plastic surfaces from the get-go! McKee's 37 Plastic Trim Restorer is a must for new cars – whether you have a ton of trim or not! Preventing a problem is always easier than trying to correct that problem later on

If it's a new car I would suggest CarPro Dlux or Gyeon Trim. Will last much longer than the other products. For older vehicle that may need something more to look good again, I would go with the sealants instead of a coating.

    Re: Exterior Plastics Detailer/Protection

I second McKee's Trim Restorer. I applied it on my car late last fall (seems like it may have been Thanksgiving, but I don't know that for certain). I was doing a rinseless on my car last night, and for the first time noticed the trim looking a bit washed out. I pointed it out to my wife, who asked me what the hell I was talking about - She thinks it looks great!

So, in my opinion, McKee's will last @ 10 months. But according to my wife, it might last indefinitely!

Has there been a 'bake off' between the various exterior trim sealant products? I'm sort of a fan of WETS esp after the last BOGO sale.

WETS and McKee's 37 Trim Restorer are either identical or very very close. I have both and really can't tell which one I'm using if you cover the label on the bottle.

    Re: Exterior Plastics Detailer/Protection

I have no comparison. When I started, I picked a brand, and based off of one product, I chose McKee's. That is my starting point for any product I need. A few things in their line have been OK, but I thought I could find better, and I've switched a couple. But a few, the Trim Restorer being one, have been so good, I don't see the point in experimenting.

Based on reading, there may be something that is better. But my guess is that that difference would be so marginal it doesn't make sense to spend my time evaluating.
