    Finishing polish help.

Hello, So I had very refined paint. I ended up using menzerna 2500 on it followed by 3800 1x. I hate to say it but I lost a lot of clarity.

I'm going to use either menzerna 3500 or the new Maguire's 210 To start the process of getting it back to perfection.

Menzerna 3500 is guaranteed to do a great job but I would like to see what 210 can do.

How would you guys set up a side by side test spot?

I would run a tape line down a panel but make it extra thick so you have several inches of paint covered. Then do a test spot on each side with the different polishes you want to try. Then peel the tape and you'll be able to see which one is making a better improvement vs the unrefined middle section.

Thanks I did a panel with the 210 last night. I came out good but it's so hard to compare results from 2 finishing polishes. Even with great light the differences are subtle. I think I need to see the 210 on the whole side of the car. I think Im going to keep going with it for time reasons.

I doubt its going to finish better then 3500 but if its close that would be good. If I'm not happy with it then I can always re-polish lol.

So the 210 is good it wipes easy but I dont think so far that it finishes as well as 3500. For some reason whenever I use the 35 I can always see it clearly. It just has a distinctive shine to it.

It could be the oils. This meguiars 210 says it has rich polishing oils but it doesn't seem like it. It wipes of squeaky clean like a water based polish.

Could it be the pads you used with 3800 that caused the problem? 3800 has little cut. I’ve used it after 3500, but on hard paints rarely see a difference.

I dont think so I use rupes white finishing pads or the black hybrid force pads. sometimes even red ones.

I honestly believe my paint was about as refined as it could get looking back. I used 3800 or rupes diamond ultrafine on it at least 10 times in a year before doing the 2500. Very obsessive polishing over here because All only work on my own car. I consider this car a teaching tool.
