    Ceramic Coating Removal

I have ceramic coated a couple of my cars using Sonax, CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 and Blackfire. I am getting ready to recoat the car with the CarPro CQuartz U.K. applied. Not sure which coating I'll use, but won't go back with CarPro. The only time I had any issues with high spots was with the CQuartz. Based on that previous experience with removing the high spots, I'm looking for the best method to ensure all the CQuartz is removed prior to polishing and a new ceramic coating application. The paint is defect free, so no paint correction is necessary. I would like to use something less aggressive than Meguiars 205 using a white pad on my DA.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

M205 should remove it. Give it a test spot and see how it goes.

How would one know its gone though?

I know polish angel told me their finishing polish would remove a fresh coat of their cosmic glasscoat.

You’ll be good with 205. If you look closely you’ll see a difference in color.

Here’s a pic when I removed by hand with a green CCS pad (I think) and essence. You can Definetly she where it’s removed

    Re: Ceramic Coating Removal

Agree a light finishing polish will remove the coating. I've removed small high spots by hand and also done entire pannels easily with a machine.

With every coating I've removed, it is very obvious where the coating has been polished off. The non-coated area will often be a touch lighter in color (on dark color cars) and you'll be able to see the edges of the area you worked in the right lighting.

I easily removed CSL & EXO with a white pad and 205. You can definitely feel the difference by touch.

Anyone tried using Griot's FCC and yellow pad to remove a coating?

No, but I guarantee it would.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
