Will my tires ever be clean

Solvants are the key when trying to
clean a tire that won't get clean.

Using mineral spirit or lacquer thinner
usually does the trick on the first go.

I have had 2 experiences where I wasn't
enough, and in both cases the clients had
put multiple layers of Armor All Gel Tire Shine.

FYI: Armor All Tire Gel is a water based tire dressing.

Yeah, but that pesky amount of hydrotreated
light petroleum distillates that it contains can
be quite a (expletive deleted) to completely
remove from tires’ pores.

If the foam is turning brown, it's very unlikelly the problem is coming from a tire shine, so solvents should do the job.

Completely agree. But the tires have never been dressed in any shape or form.

What ever it is, it is impossible to remove I have tried dedicated pre-coating tire cleaners, APCs, Degreasers, normal tire cleaners, solvants... no matter what I did, the surface was still slick and greasy afterwards. If you are not gonna coat, this has to be the most durable tire dressing I have ever seen. When my gallon of All Season dressing is empty (in a few years), I think I will switch to Armor All tire gel... that stuff is ridiculously durable

I’ve experienced similar results with Hyper Dressing on some tires that had seen constant use... People say Hyper Dressing washes off at the sight of rain, but that’s not always the case once it’s penetrated deep into the rubber.

Continental tires are a whole 'nother animal when it comes to cleaning and dressing. My wife loves her DWS Contis,but boy they are hard to dress IMO. One tire is particularly stubborn. A hard rain will wash the tires clean of whatever you have on there.

I have the same tires and I have to agree with you, they look good after dressing them but a day later not so much!

It still amazes me how much tires vary from manufacturer to manufacturer in this respect.

Yes some tire compounds are probably more absobant than others. I am guessing that performance tires with soft compounds probably absorb a lot more products than regular or high durability tires with hard compounds.

In my case, if I can remember correctly in both instances I had issues it was Pirelli P-Zero tires. One would think: "Hey, it's a low profile tire with almost no sidewall, it's gonna take 1 minute flat to clean and coat" and then bam: Uncleanable LOL

Try a tar remover like Stoner's Tarminator. Either spray directly on the tire or onto a throwaway microfiber. Go to town spraying the tire liberally with cleaner if you have to. My Ford's Hankook tires are difficult to clean and never come up with white foam no matter how many times I scrub.After they are dry, they still have brown and splotchy areas and a finger swipe will turn up brown residue. Tarminator wipe down on the tires resets them to a dark gray factory look with no splotchiness, which is my criteria for deeming a tire "clean."
