I'm evaluating compound/polish/pad options for a 2015 Audi S4 and was wondering what to expect in terms of paint hardness and thickness? I've read conflicting information.
Loved my 2014 S4 but I wouldn't say the paint is "hard" Are you sure you need to compound it? What polisher are you using and pads do you have access to?

I'm not sure that I need to compound it, haven't examined it that closely just yet. I have a Griots DA orbital and M105/M205 in my inventory. Pads all need to be replaced. I'm thinking about grabbing an all in one compound/polish this time around. Years ago when I was detailing more regularly, the Menzerna line of compounds and polishes was very popular. What is the flavor of the week lately?
I would recommend Boss pads for your machine. And then 2 words, Test spot. No one can tell you what kind of paint you have until you do a test spot. I don’t believe in the hard or soft discussion. It either corrects easily or it’s difficult.
Good point, Mike. While I still maintain a few preconceived notions about certain paints, I have been surprised in recent years about what works best on "this paint today"! Sometimes it's 2 test spots and sometimes it's 5!
Menzerna remain as superb products for me.
If you need to replace your pads I would agree with Mike above and go the "system" approach and get some BOSS pads. While you're shopping, get some Griot's Fast Correcting Creme and Perfecting Creme to replace the M105/205.

Gotcha. I don't use the Griot's DA so I'll let others chime in on pad to use. Product wise, there are some really good AIO's on the market if that's the route you're going to go. Meg's D166 has great cut and finishing too. Menzerna is still a strong line of products to select from too. So many choices....
Good luck and I look forward to seeing the finished work.
