Recommendation for polish and pad to bring out the best shine...

I recently purchased a 2006 Mazda Miata MX5 GT which is in really good condition and only 34K miles. I have already cleaned and treated the top and clayed the paint. It appears that the paint is in good condition and I only found one small swirl in the paint. With that being said I believe polishing the paint will improve the appearance of the red paint.

Has anyone had experience polishing the paint on these? Is the paint soft? Provided it is, what polish do you recommend using? Pads? I have Meguiar’s 205 and assortment of pads. Would that do the job? Thanks

    Really nice car!

I just bought a Mazda 6 and found the paint to be medium, it wasn't soft or hard. I used a Gruots Orange pad and HD polish+ and it took car of the damage pretty well. I only had to compound a few spots because the previous owner decided to wet sand the paint and leave the marks.

Look forward to seeing pictures and goodluck!

205 and a medium pad should do the trick. Nice car!

    I'd try the M205.

Great find on a super fun and clearly clean car. Personally, I'd lower that 4x4 look to a more respectable level and toss on some nice wheels.

Paint wise, not that it will matter here with you simply needing to polish it but Mazda has shown me that most of their paints are pretty thin. That said, I'm a coating guy and would hit that baby with CarPro Essence or GEYON's Primer and then one of their respectable coatings and top-coats to give it a super gloss and super slick hydrophobic properties. From there, simply enjoy.

    Great find !

Here is my 08 MX5 GT.
Bought it in June 2017 with only 45k miles.

Pic from last summer when I polished with CarPro Fixer with a polishing pad then Carpro Essence with Carpro Gloss pad and finaly Gyeon CanCoat.

Paint is medium hard I’d think.

I found essence with a yellow boss pad to leave a beautiful polished surface
