    Annual Reapplication of CQuartz UK

I am ready to reapply CQuartz UK at the one year mark since the original CQuartz application, and need advice on preparation and how to do it.

The car has no defects worth noting, so I am not planning to polish. Is this ok or do you recommend a light polish like Menzerna 3500 or 3800 to remove the previous coating? If no polishing, my plan was to iron x, wash, Eraser/IPA wipe down, then CQuartz application. Iffy on the claying step as I don’t want to introduce swirling...have some fine grade clay I may consider using. Will the CQuartz bond and provide the same protection if applied as described with no polishing? Thanks.

Why do you need to reapply after only 1 year? This coating should be good for 2 or more.

Do you need to reapply? My guess is if it's not as hydrophobic in appearance/behavior it's likely due to contaminants bonded to the coating. I experienced this with my wife's car after winter and simply used a nano mitt with a VERY light touch and super soapy water. Go slow and use it to just simply knock-off those bonded bits. It won't marr it up if you are careful and use lots of soapy water. From there either top it with something like Gliss v2.0 or even start with a general topper like Reload.

    Just a thought.

I'd first tried a heavy Iron-X bath, after that re-wash and see how the coating is preforming. You might be surprised!

I agree about not recoating, but if you must, why not use Essence instead of Menzerna which is full of oils that you would have to remove before applying your coating. Another option is using Essence Plus which has no abrasives.

If your going to skip the polishing step, than do an IPA or Eraser wipe down before coating. If you used Reload as a topper than you must use Tar X to remove the oils left behind from using Reload.

You might also consider using the new Car Pro CQuartz Light.

I think you guys are right...no need to reapply CQuartz...I’m being overly protective of keeping the new car coated and protected. I’m going to wash and use reload.

Question: I want to make sure if I use iron x it will not hurt the coating. Let me know. I am reading a lot that 1x a year with a coating that one should iron x after washing to remove contaminants to keep coating clean. Then top with reload. Thanks.

They were made for each other. If the car isn't too dirty just Iron X it let it dwell then rinse and wash it like normal. If its dirty wash it, Iron X, wash again then hit it with Reload. You better post up your results!
