Removing 20+ year Old Trim - Adhesive Removal Question
Does anyone have experience removing trim adhesive from older cars?
I have a 1986 Chevy C10 pickup (red) with factory single stage paint. The paint is a mostly original, but it still shines up well with the exception of some thin spots.
I recently removed the trim around the truck and am having trouble getting the adhesive off. There are thin, hardened areas of adhesive ringing the body, with some panels better than others.
I used a 3M eraser wheel to start which got rid of most of the leftover tape. Since then I’ve tried vigorously soaking/rubbing with various adhesive removers, areas of hardened tape will not come off. So far I’ve tried 3M adhesive remover, Goof Off Automotive, and Goof Off Overspray Remover.
Do do you have any recommendations? I’m really stuck regarding how to address this without damaging the paint more than necessary.

Rapid Remover + heat gun + plastic paint spatula. The Rapid Remover might be able to do it on its own, but extreme cases you’ll need the other 2 as well just don’t crank the heat gun all the way on high.
Spray, heat, carefully chizel.
This was by far the hardest sticker I’ve ever removed in my life and it literally took a couple of hours and without those 3 things it would’ve never came off. I couldn’t believe it.

Here’s a link to photos. I can’t get them to upload through the forum for some reason.

After looking at the pics I think the Rapid Remover would get that off by simply spraying and wiping with a microfiber towel.

WD-40 and let it sit for a bit. You might need a plastic razor blade or spatula as well.
