cup your hand/fingers over the front of the leaf blower tube when you're near the paint and it won't be a problem hitting it...

Try that with mine, and it'll rip your skin off. Lol

if i don't want to pull out the mckee's 37 turbo dryer, i'll use the leaf blower. mine is electric (wouldn't use gas) so not a problem...
