    That new car smell

That new car smell, I love it, my wife hates it, it gives her a headache. Yesterday we got a new car, yesterday was also the day it came off the truck so it’s had no time to offgas. The problem is, it’s her car. What if anything car we do to speed up the process of getting the new car smell out? It’s in the garage overnight with the windows down and sunroof open, parked during the day with it cracked open. Now what?

Off gassing is from the foams mostly.... just like a mattress. New leather can contribute too. Unfortunately nothing you can use to get at foams through leather. You can mask it with fragrance.... You could try leaving couple boxes of baking soda open in their while parked. Not sure if it will help. Trade cars for a week?

Tucson. Plans are Cquartz UK 3.0, Dlux on wheels and trim, Carpro leather on the interior, Gtechniq on the carpet.
The nice thing, the car rolled off the truck on Saturday and we drove it home Saturday. So it was "detailed" at the dealer, it was just one wash when most of the car was covered by plastic. Better than weeks of washes that include spraying water at the dirty car and drying with a dirty towel. It needs a chemical decontamination and clay, and a light polish. It's not to bad.

Yes...That is a nice thing, at least as far as
less potential for paint damages to occur,
[from not being “touched” too much while it
sits on the lot waiting to be sold, IMO].

But if it were to sit awhile—on the lot, out in
the sunlight: interior getting heated up—there
would be an opportunity for (more) interior
outgassing to occur prior to it being sold.

    Point being:
Heat is the catalyst for faster outgassing
of the familiar new car smell (toxins) that
are so omnipresent in modern-day vehicles’
    interiors/materials.

•Now that the vehicle is home...A suggestion:
-As often as possible: Leaving the vehicle outside,
[with the windows barely open (an inch will suffice)],
where the Sun can heat up the interior, is one way to
    expedite the outgassing process.

Many want to preserve that smell for as long as possible. Others want it gone as soon as possible. Funny how it goes.
Nice car. That's now the only good looking Hyundai SUV. Santa Fe looked great until this last redesign, now it's hideous. The Palisade just as bad. Tuscon looks pretty nice

You can try placing several bamboo charcoal air purifying bags in the car. It’s a natural fragrance free deodorizer/odor eliminator. Might help.

    Re: That new car smell

Heat could be an issue. It's not super warm here, but is sunny. My wife has been leaving the sun roof tilted so it vents some. She complained about my focus for 6 years, I hope it's not the leather, it was hard to talk her into this package because of the leather.
The car is really nice, it's not fast or exciting to drive but nice. I didn't think it was flashy, but my kids have commented how many people look at it, and two people have commented on the color when parked.

Have your wife forget a Costco chicken in the car overnight. New car smell gone. Don’t ask how I found that out.
