Yes, the force pads are the best on the 3401. I heavily prefer finishing with a free spinning DA on soft paint.

And that's personal preference. I too prefer the longer 8mm stroke of the FLEX 3401 but I see a lot of guys that have owned the FLEX and have purchased the Mille, (or the Makita PO5000C), prefer the 5mm stroke.

The larger stroke is definitely more forgiving than the shorter stroke. The 3401 is also way less sensitive to pad selection. While the Mille has less vibration, it’s more grabby, IME. Not sure if that makes sense, it’s hard to explain.

The Millie pads are half the thickness as the regular Rupes foam pads. Have you used their polishes and pads? They say it works well as a system. Dunno!

I have and they do. That said, my experience with both the 3401 and Mille is the Mille is my favorite of the two for it's speed and smoothness of their pads. I now tend to use my 3401 for my wool pads and compounding but my polishing work with foam is Mille focused.

The Mille does work best with their pads. I do have several Maroon pads that I use in place of their Gray UHS pads as those just don't hold up well and get chewed up easy. Not sure why but in the end I can get a 1 step darn awesome correction with the LHS polish and some maroon polishing pads so I no longer care.

Overall I use the Mille and their pads with most every polish and combo and have no issues going outside to other polishes. It's the pad it's more picky with. The Hybrid Force pads I use on the 3401 do NOT work well on the Mille. Becomes too jumpy or grabby.

Who returns a polisher?! I kid.... a while before I get into forced rotation.... what do you like better about the flex over the Mille?
