Car Soap VS Dish Soap for Car Wash

In the video you say that this proves dish soap CAN remove wax over time...

But then in your comment you say this proves dish soap doesn’t remove wax.

So which 1 is it? Do you believe it strips wax or not??

-Whatever “wax” you used prior to the 1st wash did a horrendous job of beading based on the water behavior after 1 wash with NXT Car Shampoo. It looked like there was nothing on the paint.

-You should invest in more than 1 mitt.

-You should’ve washed the side with the car shampoo 1st because dish soap tends to be harder to rinse off and since you were only using 1 mitt you could’ve had cross contamination screwing up your results.

-I don’t care if you say the ground was clean, you should never lay a wash mitt on the ground and use it afterwards. [well you can do whatever you like, but it’s not good to teach others to do that with their mitt]

-Dish soap for removing lsp has been debunked a long time ago. You should already know why it doesn’t really work, if you don’t know then use the search button.

-Not all car wash shampoos leave a residue. Meguiars Hyper Wash and Carpro Reset are 2 examples and there’s many more.

That’s all the nitpicking/constructive criticism I have regarding that video.

That’s not residue, those are suds. There’s soaps that specialize In rinsing cleaner and leaving nothing behind such as conditioners, waxes, gloss enhancing polymers, etc. Leaving your paint to exhibit the characteristics of the lsp that you spent the time applying and wanting to enjoy.

Car shampoos that contain their own special blend of “waxes” or gloss enhancers are cool if you don’t already have a dedicated layer of lsp applied on your paint, but if you do already have a dedicated lsp on your paint they can sometimes interfere/mask the looks and water behavior, replacing it with inferior characteristics such as weak or nonexistent beading.

I only polish my paint maybe once every 3yrs. and my paint beads like a mugg...







That’s because I only use car soaps that rinse clean and leave nothing behind.
None of that ”wash & gloss” stuff for me... Step your game up.

With the price per wash of something like hyperwash, it's really hard to make an argument for washing with stuff meant for greasy dishes.

•IMO:
1.) Even though you live in a tropical environment,
[where there is always a state of very high humidity;
annual rainfall that is measured in meters/(feet);
and the temperature never falls below 18°C/(64°F)],
using dish soap to wash vehicles is not what I would
call a “Best Practice”.

2.) Using products that are specifically formulated
to clean vehicle surfaces can be one way to show
people that your detailing methods is what sets you
apart from the rest of the crowd.
