Spot on roof......
Hoping you can help so I can plan on what to do in the Spring. When cleaning the car this past weekend I saw this new spot. What you think it is? Is it the start of clear coat failing? Paint discoloring under clear coat, is that possible? The area is smooth, like rest of the roof. I polished the car 3-4 times since I owned it, only once every Spring.

Thanks,
Howard

Re: Spot on roof......
Have you had the car since new?
It looks like the clearcoat is very thin as in almost gone in that spot. Could have been some aggressive correction before you got the car and if you used compound it could be thinned out over the edge of clearing the base coat. I would get a look with a paint thickness gauge first to see if the measure is much lower on the spot than on another area of the same panel.
The edge of the panel seems strange. Is that some wax or polish residue or something else?
