Re: Wax after Nanoskin
I’ve used the Car Wax while you clay method on numerous cars and it works.
You can still get marring, new vehicle or not. I marred the heck out of a new Toyota Sienna roof before I noticed it once. It didn’t seem all that contaminated.

Re: Wax after Nanoskin
I’m no expert or professional but here are my misgivings about the ONR/Clay/Wax shortcut method:
- You wipe a section with ONR. That encapsulates the dirt and most of it is picked up by your sponge, mitt, or towel. You don’t wipe off the ONR sitting on the panel. This could still have dirt in it.
- Then you spritz the panel once with OCW and use the Clay Towel that’s soaked with ONR to clay the panel. If there is still dirt on that panel, you are now rubbing it back and forth on the panel.
- Finally you use an MF towel to wipe off the ONR and OCW.
I guess the theory is that the ONR will “encapsulate” the dirt still on the paint to prevent scratching, the dirt will also be picked up by the clay towel and the OCW will add extra lubricity on top of the ONR. But like I said, this would probably work on a well maintained car that gets regular washes often. If you were working on a daily driver that hasn’t been washed in a couple of months, I’d be worried.
