Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Well, not today but this week. Washed my CX-5 with Carpro Reset, then kinda did an experiment. I topped one side the Fictech Gliss (sealant/topper) and the other side with PA Cosmic Spritz. I don't have a gloss meter and did not put under a light, but - as expected, both had a beautiful gloss, but the FT left the car much slicker - as checked by the slide the mf towel and light hand test. Now that doesn't mean it will offer more or better protection, but since I had both on hand, figured why not?

Did a prep wash on my brother’s new Taycan. Iron X, clay, McKee’s 37 Coating Prep Wash, also scrubbed tires to remove the dressing the dealer had used. Ready to be polished the next couple of days.

I haven't started yet but here is what I have to look forward to.

Three days and 2,500 miles worth of nature's fine creatures along with all the other road grime...

Took the Qashqai out in the rain today, to test the new Continentals out, which are impressive. So when I got it back inside, I gave it an ONR wash, then dried it with Bowden's After Glow. It has a layer of Collinite 845, with some NV Lustre on top of that, so it's a real pleasure to work on at the moment. What did you do today, in regards to detailing?-psx_20210620_142900-jpg

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

    Ranger wash day.

First up, my old mans work vehicle which I do once a month to keep on top of it. I generally start on the wheels and arches, using Brake Buster on the tires and soap for the wheels. Exterior gets washed with whatever soap I have in the cannon at the time, today was CarPro Reset. I know this stuff is expensive to use this way but it's such a nice product. I will occasionally need to use some bug remover such as CarPro Bug Out. I then use Bead Maker as a drying aid to add some extra protection and gloss. I then hit the interior with the vac, wipe over with Megs Quick Interior Detailer, clean down the leather trim then do the glass inside and out. I finish off with 303 on the exterior trim and dress the tires.

My Ranger wasn't too bad, and with some rainy days in forecast, I wasn't inclined to go to town on it today. That said, I like to start my working week with a clean car. So I sprayed the tray out then foamed the whole car down with Reset and left to dwell for 5 minutes, cold winters day allowed for this. I then rinsed it off and blew the car down with my blower, it's looking great considering I did not physically touch the paint. A quick vac and dressed the tires with VRP.

I also took the opportunity to re-apply some glass sealant to both vehicles.

That's a good thing, they're meant to be ridden. You'll have it clean again and ready for the next ride in no time. But I don't envy the bug removal you have to do lol.

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Well, the clean-up following the 3 day/2,500 mile return trip took me about 24.5 hours spread over 4 days. Finished it tonight.

    The process...

    - A thorough bucket and hose wash job; Zero concern with being gentle
    - Clay all painted surfaces and some chrome primarily to remove the residual bug remnants in addition to the standard bonded contaminants
    - Polish w/Meguiar's 210, 1 & 3-inch rotary, 3-inch DA, and some hand polishing
    - Hand apply Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax to painted surfaces
    - Hand apply Meguiar's OTC Liquid Cleaner Wax and/or spray wax to all chrome
    - Clean and condition all vinyl/plastic trim w/Meguiar's 40

This was my first full vehicle experience using M210 and wow was I impressed. It has a nearly infinite buffing cycle and finished out beautifully on this black Harley paint.

    Before/After...
