Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Hot and sunny outside, I'm gradually moving further into the garage to wash cars out of the sun. Parked halfway, the Mustang was out of the sun for today's bath.

The Mustang didn't really need a wash this week, it never does to be totally honest, but even in a heatwave, it was sheer bliss.

This weeks little extra was a coat of VRP for the engine bay plastics. I didn't really like this as an interior dressing but I quite like it when used for this.

I took delivery of few tasty items today, the supplier must know my uncontrolled habit of buying things to try, the GTECHNIQ product catalog will provide some happy (expensive? ) reading.

The Qashqai got caught out in the rain a couple of days ago, so got up early this morning to wash it before the sun got to much heat in it. Gave it a 2B wash with Mother's California Gold, gave it a coating of 303 touchless sealant, then dried with Bowden's After Glow. All done by 8.30, then had breakfast and walked the dogs. This weekends detail is on a 2014 Chevy SS. Friend picked it up with about 47k miles on the ODO. He has some pretty nice mods coming to it but first up was a full correction and detail including a 2 layer Ceramic System. Next up will be some PPF.

Not completed yet but it's all ready to be ceramic coated. Yesterday was polisher day and trim restoration.

I've used it a few times, on both the FJ and the Qashqai. Longevity seems to be 4 - 8 weeks when the car is parked outside, depending on the weather. It reminds me of Gyeon Wet Coat alot. The Qashqai is parked inside every night now, so I'm curious to see how long it lasts.

The interesting problem I'm having at the moment, is getting any lasting protection on the roof of the FJ. It's parked outside 24-7, and all protection (hydrophobicity) seems to disappear in as little as 2 - 3 weeks. It's not a problem on the rest of the panels, they're silver with a clear coat, but the roof is single stage white. Could be the combo of hot sunny days and heavy rain, sometimes at the same time.

It might not even be paint, something like Gel Coat maybeWhat did you do today, in regards to detailing? The durability is about what I got out of it but on the 8 week side but my Abarth, when I had it, stayed inside.

Have you used the product on your rims?

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Just finished polishing the paint on my ‘08 Tacoma. Next I will move on to detailing the engine bay and applying Meguiar’s Ultimate black plastic restorer on the trim. Also, I guess because I’m OCD, I’m going to add a 1” lowering block kit to the rear springs so the truck will sit level. I did this to an ‘06 I previously owned and I liked the look. Then I’ll see if I can get another 410,000 miles out of it 😀.

2008 Toyota Tacoma 410,000 miles and still going strong.

I suppose it could be Gel Coat, there is a definite lip where the white starts, it's definitely layered on top of the silver. I'll do some research.

I have used it on the rims of both cars, seems to work really well. The Black ones on the FJ are powder coated, quite cheaply too, but they have been really easy to clean, I just use a wheel brush very lightly.

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

So still a little stiff but can see the Camaro needed some protection. Needs a full polish and will get that in spring along with coating but for now some griots 3-1. see how it does with 2 hard months.

Today i went to the spray and pray and snow foamed with Bilt Hamber AutoFoam. Then a spray down with Iron X, rinsed, Tar, X rinse.

Then ran through the touchless for a basic wash.

Two things to note on a white car....

Snow foaming not as enjoyable (yes i like my detailing to be fun)

Iron X’ing is more noticeable on white than black (duh)

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Tuesday detailing. Five hours of therapy for this weeks session.

First up, the Wildtrack for it's monthly detail. In addition to my usual procedure on this vehicle, I wanted to try out Menzerna Power Lock.

Having never used this product before, I was impressed by it's ease of use. The finished result even better.

In keeping with the Ranger theme, mine needed attention this week too.
