Necessary to soften and clean. The glue doesn't hold and will fail without it.
    Sorry to be the bearer.
Then again maybe you will never have a problem. From the looks of your projects you know what you are doing.

If you redo, use Loctite or JBWeld 2 part epoxy. Sand the joints with 50 or 80 grit to score the pieces.
    It will never come apart.

The gold can Oatey is my fave PVC glue.

I sealed up the outside edges with liquid nails and used some hot glue to fill some gaps. I think all leaks are sealed but I will see how it goes

I since found a cox vacuum hose reel with the correct size fittings but it is like $400 with hose. I plan to stick with this setup if it works well

Warm enough for a wash and dry today. The hose reel legit but you were right. After about 20 minutes the glues I used got too hot and melted Going out of town for a few days. I will look for a high temp epoxy and try that and go from there. Will that cleaner you mentioned help the pvc cement handle the heat?

It does for furnace and water heater exhaust.
From the way it looks you are using unlike polyvinyl compositions.
Black PVC has a certain glue, schedule 40 another and cpvc yet another.
I honestly wouldn't trust the PVC glue.

Go with the epoxy. JBweld is some pretty impressive adhesive. A slower setting time might be the best.
Make sure you scour the mating surfaces.

Thanks for the tips. I do think ot is 2 or 3 different materials for sure Wish they had a plug and play option. It is designed for vacuum I suppose if air was sucking in it would work way easier than so much air going out the other direction

Started working on the mustang today. Washed it back in early December and kept it covered. Today I waterless washed it. Then I clayed it & used rupes ultra fine polish. Then I hit it with McKee’s hi def sealant and finished with bead maker. Got to say that bead maker is easy on & off. Still need to finish the car.

thanks Eldorado. yeah now I got the bug to go down the road. still need to finish the car if the weather will cooperate. I wan't to take the wheels off and treat them. I did the hood and trunk lid so far. I'm wearing a boot because of a foot & ankle injury & it's hard to work the quarters & doors. I'm going to try & jack it up to remove the tires. this should give me better access to the lower part of the car. meanwhile here in the northeast I've still got a few weeks to get it done.
