What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I detailed this ‘03 Harley Anniversary Edition

The bike was power washed recently and hadn’t been ridden, so I used ONR and CarPro Ech2O to clean.

TACsystem Metal Polish removed oxidation and light pitting which gave the wheels back their mirror shine.

A bit of Essence polish on the tank to remove some light blemishes followed by TACsystem Quartz Max to protect the paint.

No pictures, but my 14 Explorer got a good cleaning after our camping/hotel trip. Vacuumed out the interior, wiped down most of the interior panels with a damp rag, and washed the exterior and put another coat of Griots 3-in-1 ceramic spray on it. Took less than and hour parked under a tree to get bird bombed.

I also did a quick maintenance wash on my Golf R. Didn't have many miles since last wash, but collected a layer of dust sitting in the garage. The wheels definitely needed a cleaning due to brake dust. Factory pads dust like crazy. I'm planning on polishing the hood and reapplying ceramic coat before winter. Bug guts etched into the EXO are 'bugging' me.

Yes the Volkswagen OEM pads dust is unbelievably bad.

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

The Saturday Morning Wash (smw) did not go as planned.

I’ve noticed that the beading and sheeting of WG DGPS hasn’t been performing very well for the last month or so...my plan was to wash and use DP Iron Remover to help decontaminate the paint and apply another coat of DGPS then call it the day!

Well, all was going as planned until I grabbed the plastic sandwich bag and rubbed on the paint for a quick nonchalant test, that’s when I figured out why the beading and sheeting wasn’t very good...holy crap it felt like sandpaper on all of the horizontal surfaces, I had to test it twice just to make sure I was feeling what I was feeling...uugh!

I broke out the Nanoskin fine clay mitt, Uber as the lube and went to town...trying not to go too hard hoping I wouldn’t have to polish...that didn’t work out too well either, time to breakout the HF hand massager and jabra earbuds since the HF hand massager is sooo quiet!

Luckily the Acura super soft paint was in a good mood and appreciated that I was trying to make her feel and look pretty, only had slight marring but had to polish the entire car!

I used Pinnacle Polish with LC white pads, med-high speed setting on the ferocious HF hand massager...luckily I only had to make four section passes with medium arm speed to get everything cleared up.

I must say I was very impressed on how it cleared everything up, I think there were only two or three scratches that I didn’t chase too much since one of them I can feel with my fingernail.

I applied one coat of DGPS on Saturday afternoon and followed up with a second coat Sunday evening both using LC black pad.

To finish the wheels/tires off, I applied a coat of DP Wheel Glaze to the wheels and DP Tire Gel to the tires...I really like the DP Tire Gel as long as it doesn’t rain!

I only took a couple of pictures today at work but I was really impressed on it turned out!

    Thanks for reading!
    Jay
