Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I decided to remove the dirt that I had so much fun applying this week, and something really weird happened. I foamed it with Bowden's Snow Job, which removed most of the mud from the paint, having a good sealant on it really helps. Then a 2 bucket wash with Meg's Gold Class. While hand washing I noticed that the tyres were starting to look strange. Where the mud had been on the tyres they were turning blue, but not on the paint, that would have really freaked me out. After drying the paint I broke out some APC and a really stiff brush, and it started to come off, like an oily coating. It wasn't on the inside of the tyres, whare there was also mud, only on the outside, and only where the mud had been, and a little bit in the tread in some places. I don't use a tyre coating, but they used some after I got an alignment a month ago, I forgot to tell them not to. So I think the tyre coating, combined with the mud, reacted with the foam to create this blue oily gel. Check it out in the pics. Second pic shows one tyre half done. It's now sitting in the garage waiting for a tidy up of the roof, now that I can reach it with the new platform. The mighty (not) 2.2 makes 385 Nm / 284 ft.lb.

Quite a weight saving on your Miata though, this Ranger with it's hefty steel stray weighs over 1700 kg / 3748 lb.

Ouch, I’ve got 100 ft.lb. behind my right foot, but weight is around 2200 lb.

I look forward to the day Sizzle Chest details a first gen 1.6 Miata and lists the stats haha

Haha, the first gen or a more recent one?

I don’t think I’ve done it in my ‘90 but my ‘14 I had I for sure have done that before.

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I cleaned up the roof on the FJ with some Lime Prime I had sitting around, the new work platform makes it so easy to reach all of it. The first time I've used an abrasive with a DA on the roof of this thing, it left a reasonable amount of white residue on the pad, so I guess it's single stage paint up there, seems very thick as well. It went fast so I did the rest of panels as well, there so flat and easy to work on. I forgot how easy it is to use Lime Prime.

It's sitting in the garage clean and unprotected at the moment. I'm waiting on a delivery of Collinite 845 this week, I've never used it before, but you guys seem to rave about it. Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

So after getting back from my oil change this morning I decided to do a Foam and rinse to the ES. I finished up my bottle of TW Ice snow Foam and added a little bit of Auto-Fanatic snow foam too. I started with the rims and scrubbed with the variety of brushes but after rinsing I decided to add another coat of 303 Touchless Sealant to them. Once I was done rinsing the car down I decided to finish up that bottle of 303 Touchless Sealant on the car, did it really need it...NOPE but with the Dragon calling my name in 11 days I decided to do the trip prep a little early. This stuff is really great and not because I beta tested it eitherWhat did you do today, in regards to detailing? I dried the car, wiped down the tires/rims and engine bay and finished by dressing the tires with Auto-Fanatic "Holeshot" tire dressing and Mckee's interior detailer for the inside.

Now it sits until tomorrow morning for C&C, where's my jacketWhat did you do today, in regards to detailing?
