First time polishing - Okay to leave car outside overnight?

    Hey All!

I'll be polishing my car (white 2016 Jetta Sport) for the first time tomorrow morning. It's my first time polishing anything so wish me luck! I'm going for a one-step with GGs Correcting Cream followed by Jescar Power Lock + and Collinite 845.

I don't have a garage so I wanted to wash and decontaminate it tonight so that I can get started early. If I leave it in my driveway, will I need to rinse and dry it again or will I be okay with just hitting it with my Gyeon Prep?

    Thanks!!

There’s risk if you don’t rinse again, and I don’t live in your surroundings, but in my surroundings if the weather behaved and I was unable to see any dust buildup, I would take that risk on my own DD. The Gyeon Prep is going to clean the light dust off though. You are going to polish away any very slight marring that you may incur.

Depends on your environment. If you have a lot of dust, leaves, pollen, etc. then I would rinse and wipe again.

Thanks guys! I think I will give it a rinse to knock the dust off.

I would wipe the car down with quick detailer or waterless wash in the morning.

I always wash/decon the night before I correct.

    My truck sits outside 24/7.

I have always found that a simple QD wipe down is more than sufficient.

Worrying about micro particles on the semi-molecular level possibly leaving something behind that will "harm" the paint during the machine process is something for a black Ferrari owner to stress over.

Not for this Ram owner. I am always more than satisfied with my work......

Wiping down the surface just prior to actually polishing it will be fine, as new contaminants settling on the paint won't be able to bind to it just overnight. However, once you've polished the paint, always apply some protectant to it as soon as possible, because even the wipedown can ruin your perfect polish, if you allow a lot of dust to settle on it.

Also, if you've used tape to mask off trim (plastic or rubber), make sure you don't leave that on for longer than a day (preferably less), because the glue from the tape might penetrate the material and even bind to it, and then you'll have a very hard time removing it, if you'll succeed at all. Morning dew won't help you there either, as it will obviously accelerate the process of the glue dissolving.
