Sounds like something fun to do on a test panel to see how it turns out.

There are several youtube videos showing the process and result. In essence, if you do a good job wetsanding it, it can give very nice result. If you don't, it will look pretty bad.

I am sorry I disagree with this. To me it doesn't matter how much you make, it is what you do with it.

Re: Best way to address clear coat failure?
MAACO shops are independently owned and operated so the results can vary tremendously. My only dealing with MAACO was a total nightmare and it was for something very simple, nothing like a full repaint. About 30 days later the shop folded and shut down. I'd say they did the world a favor, it was that bad.

I took the car to a body shop to get an estimate and was given a total cost of ~$4,600 to repaint the car. I have attached some pictures of the paint damage at this imgur link.

Is there any hope to fix this issue on my own without paying $4,600 to repaint an older car such as this? What would be the best step for me to take?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
If you're in North Central Texas I just started painting again...

Well if you don't make enough money, you won't be able to do anything because you won't have any.

That reminds me of the saying that money doesn't make you happy. To this I would argue that not having money can make you really sad
