Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?
I use Perl at 3:1 on engines that are mostly covered by plastic like Lexus.
Leaves a nice darkened appearance on all of the plastic.

Thanks, I got a liter of Perl in Saturday and made a mix of 1:1 and 1:5. I may have enough to do a bottle of 1:3

Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?
So after cleaning (no water method) with wolfgang engine cleaner, I applied some sonus motor kote. A very odd method of spraying, letting dry, then spraying again. Every fiber in your body says wipe it! But an hour later it looked good. A day later it looked great. I'm anxious to see how it holds up and how well it repels.
sorry for not taking any before or step pics

Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?
I've used Sonus Motorkote for years. It can be tempting to wipe, but eventually it does lay evenly.
My process is usually - Simple Green HD - Leaf blower - drive the car and get the engine hot - hit it with dressing and close hood.
I switched to 303 lately and while it does well in the engine, I was disappointed that it smeared in the interior when rain hit the inside of the door. I'm switching to Infinity Wax detailer for the interior and back to Sonus for engine bay.

I'm still surprised that no one has come out with a clone of "CD-2".

CD-2 was the bomb back in days. Went thru many cans of it.

Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?
thanks for bumping this. Will add a year later my engine bay still looks great. Sure there's a few spots that need a wipe and it's only been like 3k miles, but I'm a believer in sonus.

Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?
So after only 2 weeks, the Infinity Wax Rubber Wax already faded. I'm not surprised as most dressings or protectants under the hood fade quickly due to the heat. I prefer water-based dressing and used Hyper-Dressing yesterday. It lays extremely well.
As far as durability, I'm tempted to try Sonus Motorkote again. I have a bottle and it's been a while since I used it.
