    paint removal from wheels

Hi I bought an 2014 mustang gt last year and previous owner painted calipers blue and got some paint on the black wheels and I don't know how to remove the blue paint without removing black paint from wheels themselves

    Re: paint removal from wheels

I would try an aggressive clay bar first. Wheels were probably painted with color then clear. Probably pretty tough. I've clayed road paint off of aluminum wheels before, came off pretty easily.

    Re: paint removal from wheels

Were the calipers painted with the wheels on?

    Are the wheels clear coated?

When I got my car back from the paint shop I swapped out the wheels to my old black ones. The wheels were covered in overspray.

I used this paint thinner to chemically remove the overspray. A clay bar didn’t touch it. This worked for me and this could be an option. The wheels are clear coated.
