I’d love to see a side by side video comparison.

Interesting question. "Power" can be measured in a vacuum in 2 ways: CFM and water lift. I try to explain it in the video that is in my review that I attached. CFM is volume of air, period. So, if you were vacumming up feathers...a whole lotta feathers...CFM would be everything. In your case, you're vacuuming up sand. For that, you need the second measurement of "power" which is inches of water lift. Without getting into a multi-stage motor, the PF51 is the strongest I have found for water lift. THAT is your power for picking up sand. Imagine drawing water through a straw. A smaller diameter straw will allow you to forcefully draw the same amount of air that you would through a larger diameter straw, but with more force than the larger straw obviously.

The unique way I use to describe the actual power of the PF51 is like this: If I turn it on and stick the end on my arm, it will give me a "hickey" and I can't shake it off of my arm...the draw is that powerful.

    Hope that helps.

Re: Can I vacuum sand more effectively?

U need a vacuum cleaner with a MOTORIZED brush roller like a Royal/Dirt Devil hand-held vac (old style with cloth bag behind the vac NOT the current mdls) or a Electrolux Sidekick power nozzle (you'll need to connect the electric onto a special extension cord if using that accessory with a shop vac; however the Sidekick connects directly onto the Electrolux hose handle (1-step vacuum & electrical connection w/o a seperate cord)

NO amount of cfm or water lift alone can get deep-down sand w/o the agitation from a ELECTRIC powered brush that will 'vibrate' the dirt out from carpet

Turbine-powered brushes are INEFFECTIVE because most of the vac's cfm & H2O lift are used to spin the brush, robbing the vac's efficiency; & things get worse when the vacuum bag fills or filter(s) get dirty & cloggedCan I vacuum sand more effectively?-41-z6cbp-jl-_ac_sy400_-jpg

You can also use a cordless sander and let it vibrate the floor while you vacuum up the bits
