Re: wax (collinite 476S) over HDSpeed ??

The wax is doing the protecting. You don’t need to protect that too. If so I would change your wax to something you don’t feel needs additional protection

Now if you are wondering if they would work on top then sure. Most things work ok on 476.

And now I have learned the hard way that with this Collinite 476S ....."thin, thin, thin" is better than "thin" and "thin, thin". Yes, I got schooled.

Not to make this endless but ....

Now that I have 2 coats of 476 on there, just as I was previously hunting for advice on compatibility of 476 over HDspeed....I assume the good quick detailers (like Mequires UQD, 303 QD w/UV) are the way to protect this wax??
The wax is not meant to be protected. It IS the protection.

I personally would use Collinite 325 then 476s. I recently used 325 and it did a great job but I would not trust it to last for durability. These were all used in Az. and get the occasional applications of Optimum Car Wax along with Rinseless washes with Optimum No-Rinse Wash and Wax.

Hmm. Didn't know 325 existed....I had just finished with 3M clay bar and HD polish and HD speed before the 476S.

But anyway, the thought process on the QD is my hope (false?) that after all the hard work getting a few layers of wax on there - now using QD to maintain isn't just pretty, but also it's an easy way to get the wax to hold up an extra month ?

Optimum Rinseless Wash and Wax mixed as a QD, It has Car Wax in it and I use it religiously. The 325 has only been out a few Months.

For practical purposes, assume the QD just makes it pretty. Using spray waxes every 2-4 weeks can help extend the protection.

That is why I use the Optimum No Rinse as a QD and to wash as it has the Car Wax in it. I do not scrimp there as it also gets some straight Car Wax at times. It all seems to work with the UV and extending the Collinite.
