    Collinite 845 - spray

    Hey guys,

I'm seeing a lot of people using spray trigger on there 845.. what happened? Why is this suddenly a thing? IMO using spray trigger for 845 would put too much product for you to thinly apply. I want to know if others are doing the spray trigger technique here and what are their insights on this.

I don’t know about a full-up trigger sprayer but I have used a small 2 or 4oz fine mist spray bottle (no 'trigger'). It doesn't put a lot of product down.

Amazon.com : 4oz Cobalt Blue Plastic PET Boston Round Fine Mist Spray Bottles (12-Pack w/ Black Sprayers); Labels Included : Beauty

You definitely need to heat the bottle up (I put it in a pan of hot water) in order to get 845 to flow through the sprayer. Or use a 2oz flip top bottle
to dispense 845 instead of having to deal w/ the large bottle.

I still reach for Collinite 476S before 845 in most cases though.

I'd have to say there's only one personal dislike I have of #845, and that's the Cap on the Bottle. There has been a couple occasions where I knocked an open bottle over, and lost about an ounce each time.

As you folks know, a fluid ounce is more than enough to do an entire vehicle.

While I've found some difficulty finding a dispenser cap to properly fit the Collinite Bottle, one could always transfer some to another bottle, maybe something like the mustard-type hair dye squeeze bottles gotten from a beauty supply store for not much money, or other such vessels for ease of application.

Never thought of "spraying" the product, but imagine one could spray a small dose onto an applicator or DA Pad, and go at it without any waste or over-application occurring.

Yep, I have with waxes, or tire gels, PERL, and stuff along these lines where the bottles are large, quart, or gallon containers.

Same with my Record Cleaning Solutions at my VPI Record Cleaning Machine, where the Solutions are in qt bottles, makes it a lot easier.

Thanks for posting this for others to see too.

I use the flip caps that come on duragloss products. They fit right on to collinite bottles.

There are a couple of threads around here on using through a pump sprayer.

I believe FunX Bob also uses it this way.

I can’t remember the terms Bob used but it’s like yogurt, the more the wax is shaken, the more liquid it becomes.

Here's an article about my VPI 16.5 RCM, posted by my good friend Jim Pendelton, owner of Osage Audio and Audio Intelligent Vinyl Solutions Record Cleaners. (All are fantastic products.) You can see I'm a bit of a tinkerer.

My Table is a highly modded VPI HW-19. (Hope the moderators don't mind my off topic post)

Update about usable caps for the Colly #845 Bottles.
This morning for the heck of it, before discarding a empty bottle of Walmart's Great Value knock-off Brand of Dawn Dish Detergent, I decided to soak and clean the Flip Top Cap, dry and install.

Seems to fit fine, and I'll know more when I go to use the product if there's any leaks from improper thread compatibility and sealing.
