Polishing help

I've had numerous issues finishing with M205.

M205 is fantastic polish on normal and harder paints and guys like Larry Kosilla & Kevin Brown (who only finish with M205) are far more skilled at paint correction than I'll ever be. They're willing to spend a ton of additional time manipulating their methods, tweaking and adjusting the amount of polish used to cope with the rapid removal of spent paint residue, and they'll even dilute M205 with water to get it to finish down perfectly on virtually any paint.

I think Mike Phillips mentioned in another thread somewhere that he thought Meguiars should release a diminishing version of M205 for those occassions that it just doesn't play well with certain paints. That way people could "stay in the family" if they wanted to.

It's always amazed me that Kevin Brown and Larry Kosilla will jump through so many hoops just to get M205 to do what they want in those situations rather than just having a polish better suited for the job on hand. Seems like their time would be worth more than that. Also the only video I've seen of Larry diluting M205, he seemed to need to go through a bunch of it to find the right ratio on that one car. How is that even worth the hassle? I guess if you rarely have to do it, maybe it isn't a big deal.

I love those guys, but honestly I am starting to agree with what was say here.

I would rather have different favorite polishes on hand vs. try to find the right solution of m205.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on the product. I tried to be faithful to m205, but I’m starting to realize it that there is a reason why there are better options out there.

Personally, the project that I only had m205 as my only polish made me wish I had something like Rupes yellow/yellow combo. Easy to wipe off—never gave me issues.

Last year a phone call with Kevin Brown made me feel that m100 and m205 was the only way to go.

Sorry not to get off topic OP, but the sticky situation made me bummed out like I didn’t know what I was doing. I needed to express myself...lol.

That is the reason I take the Menzerna SF4000 (also FG400, PF2500) with me every time I go out.

Maybe I’ll test it out someday.. If it could at least make my M205 smell like UP I’d be happy and would even continue buying UP just for that purpose. Lol.

I hope I shook my bottle well. Either way,

I did use the mf finishing pad. Switched to a foam pad... same issue.

I wasn’t happy. Never mind the car being black to work with.

At that point, I will switch out. I can make it work if it does that, but I'm usually trying to get a job done, and don't need the extra hassle.
