Re: Trying to decide between Meg's D101 and Optimum Power Clean

If anything, I think OPC is mislabeled as an APC. It's really a degreaser that IMO is safer and more effective than other degreasers . When thinking about it as an interior cleaner, I understand how OPC seems overpriced and less concentrated than the other all purpose cleaners. Also, IMO optimums marketing can be off putting and over hyped and so are some of their products.

I agree. But Optimum isn't alone in this era of "Over marketing".

It makes it hard to wade through all the "claims" and get to the performance.

This is where AGO comes into play for me. And your constant honest opinions/reviews are very helpful.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Matt, thank you for the insight.

Eldo, again, I'm coincidentally aligned with you 100%.

I use D101 for interiors, and wheel wells too. But I'll also cycle it in the washing machine, and to clean the bathroom/showers. My gf LOVES it.

I also use it to get my microfiber pads clean. Works better than the CG pad cleaner I use on my foam pads.

Re: Trying to decide between Meg's D101 and Optimum Power Clean

These two were my final choices in deciding on an APC a few years ago. They both seem to be very highly rated.

What ultimately made my decision, is that OPC is advertised as being able to use on leather. Where D101 wasn't (at least as far as I could tell).

This was sort of important to me for cleaning leather steering wheels and gear selectors. Not so much entire leather seats.

I've been very happy with OPC. I use it in my engine bay, on rubber floor mats, and to deep clean the interior. The difference in price isn't really an issue for me, because I don't use very much APC in a year.

had tried all the above : OPC, D101, D108.
i only restock D108 and have two dilution which is 1:5 & 1:10 for all cleaning stuff.
D108 only touch the interior when quik interior detailer D149 wouldn't cut.

Even the label on Megs D180 Leather Cleaner & Conditioner recommends using D101.

Is one better than the other? I know Meg's is cheaper but if OPC is a safer all around product then it may be worth the price to me as I'm only using on personal vehicles.

    Thanks,

I'm a huge fan of Optimum Power Clean, but I don't use it on interiors. Works fantastic as a degreaser and strong cleaner. I used to use D101 everywhere, but now hardly use it on the vehicles, but do use it everywhere else in the house & garage. Optimum Fabric & Carpet is amazing stuff and you don't have to rinse like Megs recommends for D101 on fabrics. For hard plastics inside, my vehicles don't get that dirty so I use Megs D149 (Interior Detailer). If I had a tough mess on the hard plastic, I would use D101 diluted 10:1 to clean and then finish with D149.

If I had to choose between the 2, I would go with Power Clean, but dilute it way down for interiors. Still a fan of D101 though for lighter jobs.

I don't know about Megs but I've been using Optiumum Power Clean aka Alien Kleen since joining AG and it's the one product I haven't deviated away from, its THAT good! The 3:1 ratio has taken care of everything I've asked of it too.

I've used it in the engine bay, door jams, tires, wheels, floor mats, inside of microwaves (soaking right now actually), etc. I use it more around the house actually but I can always trust it to clean whatever it needs to. Like I said before, it's the 1 product I've kept buying over and over and over in the 6 years I've been here.
