Is that bare metal we’re looking at? What do you mean you found out? The ding was there when you bought the car? Or how’d it happen?

Do you think it was dinged at the dealership? You may be able to contact them and they may fix it as a goodwill gesture. I had this happen to me back in 2006 with a lease vehicle and they did fix it since the agreed it most likely happened on the lot.
If that does not work, I can highly suggest the Dr. ColorChip repair kit. While this is a bit larger than normal chips it is designed for, with diligence and patience it should work. Plus, you will undoubtedly come across front end chips as the years go on where it will come in handy.

Re: Help with a door ding in a new car..
Hey guys,
Sorry for not clarifying - I had bought the car and driving it a few days and the ding was found after a grocery trip today. I think that is paint transfer from the other car - how do I remove it first before doing anything for my side?

Ah. Okay. If that is paint transfer and you do not have a polisher, I would try an over the counter light scratch remover and a foam applicator. Meguiars ScratchX may do the trick. Just remember to reapply your favorite wax as the ScratchX will certainly remove it.

Meguiars Ultimate Compound and a microfiber applicator. Just make sure you clean the spot before you do it. If it’s what you think it is it’ll come off fairly easy by hand.

That doesn't look like paint transfer to me, but it's hard to tell from the low resolution photos. If you run your fingernail across it, do you catch an edge?

Hi guys. There is definitely an element of paint transfer but there is also bare metal. Can I put touch up paint on the bare metal or do I need to put primer on there first?

Don’t get ahead of yourself.. Did you try the Ultimate Compound by hand yet? 1st do that and see what you’re dealing with.
