New car, question on interior protection
I just purchased a brand new GOLF GTI 2018. In Dark Iron Blue.
The car is great, I already have a solid plan for maintaining and protecting the paint. The car's interior has a LARGE amount of glossy piano black trim. I realize the fingerprint magnet aspect might not be fixable, but what can I do to get some type of protection from scratches? Obviously being careful, using a good microfiber towel to clean it is smart, but what about adding some type of interior ceramic coat? Would that work?

IMO the safest way to protect the piano black trim is protection film.

Agree with GEM, you need film or will have to be careful.

A coating does a nice job of protecting those types of materials but they are not impervious to scratches.

Buy after market and not from dealer. I’ve had dealers charge $2000 for something we charged $900

I had a GLI and you can't do anything to help protect it other than protection film

OP - are you asking about the piano black around the gages and the nav screen/climate knobs? I just use a plush micro with a spray of interior detailer on it. Wipe it very lightly. I don’t know if there is any way you could apply a film around the knobs and gages or even apply a coating. Just keep it clean.

$2000 dollars to coat the black piano trim around the shift knob? Not even if it was a Bentley. No way
