Re: Rock hard Honda paint
Just like people make generalizations about how all Hondas have soft paint, you see a lot of people make generalizations about how Audis have rock hard paint. And I've come across some Audis that do in fact have rock hard paint, but that don't make is so for all Audis.
It also is a bad idea to make generalizations about the hardness or softness of paitn on any brand of car because,
A: Paint technology is always changing.
B: Car manufactures are always switching to the newest, latest paint technology.
The ONLY way to know if a paint is hard or soft is to
1: Have a lot of experience buffing out lots of different cars and paying attention to how the paint buffs.
2: Do a Test Spot on EVERY car you buff out and find out from the get-go what you're working on.

Re: Rock hard Honda paint
Seems a little strange. My 2012 Honda Fit in the same color is extremely soft. The car was horribly swirled out when we bought it this fall, yet it only took a finishing polish on medium polishing pad to fully restore the paint to LSP ready condition and 1~2 fewer passes.

Re: Rock hard Honda paint
I guess it depends on the particular car (model) and manufacturing plant. My wifes’s Honda Pilot I worked on last year was very easy to correct with finishing polish (medium cut polish in some spots). Also, paint thickness in these two particular cars is different (much thinner on the pilot). With all that said, it seems to me that manufacturing plant and specie model plays a bigger role rather than just a brand name.

Re: Rock hard Honda paint
Oh for sure a civic painted in Indiana may be different hardness than on painted in Canada so on and so forth.
