For me, the foam gun works like a soap bucket, but usually takes more soap. I use a lesser expensive soap in the gun, and use several ounces of soap. I spray the car down when its dry, let the foam dwell for several minutes, then rinse with as much pressure as you make. I then reapply the soap with the gun, wash with a mitt or whatever you have, and then rinse. Use a good drying agent as you dry, and the wash will be just as good as a 2 bucket or foam cannon can do. Just a lot easier, in my opinion.
