Re: Sealant comparison
Washed doors of both cars with DG car wash (red stuff) using a microfiber towel.
Rover update (hard to see)
- CanCoat doing well
- DG 104 a little slower than Can Coat but still doing well
Boxster (video 1 and video 2)
- DG FC&S + AW (75/25) working, but just barely better than the area with no product. Should have tested sooner.
- DG 931, Ultima Spray Wax, and Dodo Acrylic Spritz working well with very clear delineation between the areas with and without product
CanCoat continues to work well. I have to wonder if the reason it didn't slow down over Winter is that I used CarPro Reset car wash fairly often. Will see how it does as we move into fall weather. DG 104 is impressive as well, but most of the paste waxes are also good.
In the next couple of weeks I'll apply CanCoat on a clayed and unpolished surface to see how well that works. If Cruz or somebody else has already done this please let me know and I won't take the time.

DG FC&S + AW (75/25) is done. It was close to done last time so I marked it done a couple of days after the last test
DG 931 obviously working, but not the fastest clearing
Ultima Spray Wax and Dodo Acrylic Spritz working well with very clear delineation between the products
I'll get more products applied once it stops raining every other day.

Re: Sealant comparison
Added 3 more sealants (re-tests) and a new coating yesterday. Did all the prep work to remove any previous products, and got the products carefully applied and documented. Was going to post this morning. Woke up to unforecasted rain. Will have to remove them and re-apply.

Re: Sealant comparison
If you experience a slow down on the beading it can be the DG car soap 901. It claims to have glossenhancer as I understand the description of it. And it also seems to have something in it that makes it to sheet the water off. As you would get less water to dry. It can be that it's interfear with your testing. I know there are other car soaps like that which have that self drying claim on them. It's just a friendly heads up. Don't think that it's effect is long lasting though. But if testing it right after the wash and you can have it left on the paint. Have you noticed more sheeting from the products you have tested before when you have used the DG car soap?
Still awesome to read and look at your updates of testing. Bummer on the rain coming in and mess with the curing. Hope you get it when you re-doing it.

Good catch, Tony. I somehow hadn't noticed that before. I haven't noticed any difference in water behavior when using the DG car soap, but it seems like a good idea to excluding it from washing test panels going forward.
Interesting that you mention this. I was concerned previously with N-914 interfering with tests. For this reason I washed the Rover panels with all 3 car soaps a couple of weeks ago to see if there was any difference. I didn't notice. Still seems prudent to stop using the DG soap.

Re: Sealant comparison
CarPro Reset and Meguiar's D110 Hyper-Wash are two car wash solutions that are pretty widely regarded as rinsing cleanly leaving nothing behind (no gloss enhancers, wax, etc).

Re: Sealant comparison
Washed both cars with Carpro Reset before testing.
Rover update (no video)
- CanCoat doing well
- DG 104 a little slower than Can Coat but still doing well
Boxster (Passenger side and driver side)
- DG 931 still working but not the fastest clearing
- Ultima Spray Wax doing well
- Dodo Acrylic Spritz working well
Added a few more to the drivers side of the Rover. Front is toward the left. I didn't clay or polish before applying these. I pressure washed after washing with Reset and didn't see any obvious product on the doors. I'm hoping none of these last more than 3-4 weeks so I can get another few products tested on that side before Winter gets here.

Re: Sealant comparison
I forgot that re-applied some products on the passenger side of the Rover. I added these a week or so ago and then it unexpectedly rained. I polished off the products with a black pad and DG Squeaky Clean (love this stuff). Then washed with Reset and pressure washed to make sure the products were gone based on water behavior.
I re-applied Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz, Sonus Spritz, and Sonus Glanz.
The Rover currently has
- CanCoat
- DG 104
- DG 521
- Prima Slick
- Prima Hydro
- Mothers California Gold Spray Wax
- Mothers Speed Spray Wax
- Griots Spray-On Wax
- Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz
- Sonus Acrylic Spritz
- Sonus Acrylic Glanz
The Boxster currently has
- DG 931 as a QD
- Ultima Spray Wax
- Dodo Acrylic Spritz

Re: Sealant comparison
Checked the products today. Pressure washed with water only, then washed with Carpro Reset, then pressure washed to rinse.
Boxster update (driver and passenger side)
- DG 931 obviously working, but not the fastest clearing
- Ultima Spray Wax working well
- Dodo Acrylic Spritz working well
Rover update (driver and passenger side)
- CanCoat doing well
- DG 104 has slowed more and I'm calling it done
- Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz doing well - it beads rather than sheeting, but is doing so quickly
- Sonus Acrylic Spritz not doing well - this could be done
- Sonus Acrylic Glanz not doing well - this could also be done
- DG 521 - working a little - could be done
- Prima Slick - definitely done
- Prima Hydro - working well
- Mothers California Gold Spray Wax - working ok
- Mothers Speed Spray Wax - barely working
- Griots Spray-On Wax - barely working

Re: Sealant comparison
Washed the Rover the other day with CarPro Reset. It got rained on and as too dirty to use N-914. Boxster is with the wife. I won't get to it until this weekend.
Rover update (driver and passenger side)
- CanCoat doing ok - this is finally starting to slow down a little
- Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz doing well
- Sonus Acrylic Spritz is done
- Sonus Acrylic Glanz is done
- DG 521 is done
- Prima Hydro - barely working
- Mothers California Gold Spray Wax - barely working
- Mothers Speed Spray Wax done
- Griots Spray-On Wax - barely working
I'm being as generous as I can with Prima Hydro, Mother's California gold, and Griots Spray-on. I'm saying they're working because they're sheeting faster than the adjacent products but are still slow. I'll test these again this weekend.
Spreadsheet is updated.
