    Coatings that can be topped?

I was thinking make a list of the coatings that can be topped with wax? I've heard

Pinnacle black label diamond coating both versions

    Mckees coating original version

I think I've also heard the polish angel viking coat? Does anyone know any others.

I would like to create the look of the hybrid waxes like synergy but a little more intense with less bonding issues.

You *can* top any coating with a wax if you're willing to lose the hydrophobic benefits of that coating. There are some product 'collections' out there where a hybrid carnauba/coating infused wax can be considered complimentary.

There are also coatings out there that have a final glow lie a wax as opposed to the general 'hard candy gloss' of most coatings.

As we used to say back home:
    -"The whole ball of wax"

    {Or, perhaps, more fittingly
    in this case:
    -"The whole schmear"}

Re: Coatings that can be topped?

How much of a difference do you think there is between the pinnacle black label diamond surface coating v2 and the new mckees coating? I'm thinking they are kind of the same?

Only thing is the pinnacle claims a longevity of 3 years. I think the mckees is 2 years.

The PBL claims to be designed to top with a carnuba wax. That would be perfect for me but the mckees is probably an improved version of the same thing. Both are nano glass. It be nice to get some "clarity" here. No pun intended lol

Optimum Gloss-Coat is another coating that indicates it can be topped with a wax if you elect to do so...

Re: Coatings that can be topped?

Generally, if you actually drive your cars to any extent, especially in winter areas, most mfg claims of longevity are best 'divided by 2' to get a realistic projection. Notice I said *most*...from what I've seen/experienced Gyeon is somewhat conservative (or rather, based in reality) with their claims. WG Uber Ceramic claim of 3 years on paint is, uh, somewhat optimistic if your car ever actually leaves the garage.

Coatings should actually be rated on mileage-basis methinks and any over-the-counter coating that claims 3-5 years, to me anyway, is incredibly suspect.

Another question regarding the same general concept: https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ey-topped.html
