This car belongs to my neighbor's daughter. It had some PPF on it as you can probably tell. I asked if she wanted it off, it was yellow and swirled like the rest of the car. She did so as we're talking I peel it off the three spots that have it. Here's where the problem comes in. Some genius did some work on the hood and repainted up to the edge of the PPF instead of removing it. Obviously not looking for perfection here. My plan is to wet sand the edge, then compound and polish. Just trying to soften the edge a little. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before, or have any other ideas on how to help blend the paint together?? I know a repaint is by far the best option I don't think that's going to happen.

I don't think you will be able to sand that.Take it off then sand it.

I already removed the PPF just going to sand the edge that's left because the paint is from almost level to 3 mils thicker where it didn't have the PPF

    •An "interesting challenge" is
    quite the understatement!

-It's definitely going to be difficult
to blend-in ~a 3 mil butte, to match
the elevation of an almost level steppe.

    -Your wet-sanding the edge process
    is a good approach, IMO.

Be careful when sanding and polishing the side that was covered you could break through. I would use a paint gauge for removal of material. Good luck

Thanks I just did an M 3 that I pulled the PPF. It actually had a lot more. If this car is like the other black Infinitys I've done the paint is rock hard, I'm always as careful as I can be. I would feel a lot better about this if the respray was single stage. I may end up hitting the color coat on that side. The customer is aware of the issue. I told them I would do the best I could.

I should have taken some before pics after it was washed the car. I have no idea what that white stuff is on the front of the hood. It wasn't adhesive though. I tried everything including WD 40 and nothing took it off. The line actually looks worse in the picture than it does in person. Considering what I was working with it actually came pretty decent.
