Rock chip plastic coating on 911 rear fenders, ideas on cleaning the edges.....
The Porsche 993 models, 1995 to 1998, have a plastic coating on the leading edge of the rear fenders (rock chip protection). IT is a clear-bra like material, a heavier clear vinyl. The edges of the plastic rock chip protection will catch wax, compound, polish. Even after carefully cleaning of the edge, there is still some white substance or edge of the protective coating that looks like the detail was left unfinished.......On black and dark colors, the "white" edge is quite noticeable. Any suggestions for cleaning it so the edge doesn't show as much? Maybe it is just something that can't be fixed. thanks Phil

Place 3m tape on the edges before correcting the clear bra or any panel around the rear fenders

A sanded down/rounded-off toothpick and zero pressure would work too.

Hi Phil, all Porsche's have that area protected with that heavy clear material. Mine is a 2006 with 12,000 miles and expertly maintained from new by me and mine are SHOT!! They simply discolor and degrade over time, not to mention yours are way older than mine. The OEM replacements are ridiculously overpriced. They need removed and replaced with some paint protection film. At least mine do, I'm guessing yours could use it too.
