Has Anyone Done Iron-Decon Step Twice?

When I use Iron-X, I wash the car, hit it with Iron-X, wash again and move on to claying. Last time I did this, I wondered what would happen if I did another Iron-X step. Would I see the same amount of iron removal, or does the first application wipe out most of the iron deposits? I should have tried it, but did not think of it fast enough. Anyone ever try a second application immediately after the first?

Yeah but not on a car. 😂. My shower had a bunch of rust from the previous owner before he put in a water softener, so you could see the stains and nothing could get it out. So, I hit it with iron x and it worked great! Some spots needed more because I could still see it, so I hit it again until it stopped turning purple.

I do it for very dirty rims. I use iron x, let it do its thing, agitate a little but and then wash. Then I use it again if I still see anything left on.

On heavily contaminated items, be they wheels or the actual paint of the car, a second 'hit' with an iron remover is often needed to fully remove all of the contaminants, especially in situations where the dwell time of the initial hit is reduced due to higher ambient temps etc.

I used to be able to buy the gel IronX here on AG and it was my go to for rust removal on wheels.

Sticks well and cleans iron particles well.

I then would do a quick second coat of regular Iron X just to check if totally free of iron particals.

I paint my wheels almost every 6 months so I am not the best source for long lasting recommendations.

Yes! Sort of had to on a car that was in to the Toyota dealership for a recall. The car sat there well over a month! The owner got it back with a bunch of nasty yellow spots.

Maybe you can see them in this pic...

Here's the first pass with iron decon (3D BDX)...

I went over the horizontal panels at least twice. On the hood, I went and did a 3rd pass, this time using a lighter dose of BDX, mixed with some Poorboy's World Clay Lube and their clay.
