Wax safe windshield washer fluid?
Does anyone know of any wiper fluid that is easier on wax or windshield coatings/treatments by chance? I hear waxing the windshield is kind of pointless because the wipers and it's wiper fluid just wash it away in a few days anyways. If this is true, are there any known fluids that are wax or windshield treatment friendly?

I don't think it's pointless to wax the windshield, but I think that sealants play better in that application. Alternatively you could use a glass coating which would be more durable than a wax or sealant. There are also wiper fluids and additives that contain water-breading ingredients.

I would have to think the Rain-X wiper fluid would be a good option. Even if it does lead to removal of the glass wax/treatment prematurely, it will still have decent water shedding all on its own.

Sealant is definitely the better route for glass. I use CG Jetseal and in our somewhat rainy climate of north Alabama, it has lasted 5 months so far and the water still runs away flawlessly.
I use the Rain-x fluid in my vehicles.

McKee's 37 Glass Coating, glass sealant, rain repellent
Never had any washer fluid degrade this glass coating.

I would go the coating route -- far superior than waxes and sealants. I use Prestone in my washer fluid. Doesn't alter the beading and sheeting properties of my windshield -- not in 3 years.

Re: Wax safe windshield washer fluid?
I would be careful with the Rainex washer fluid. In some vehicles, like my MK6 GTI, the chemicals in Rainex washer fluid will gum up the sensor in the reservoir and make the "empty fluid" light come on until the the tank can be drained and the sensor cleaned/replaced.
I've never been a fan of waxes or sealants on the windshield. Coatings might be different, but I found anything on the glass to cause streaking or even keep the wipers from completely cleaning the glass when conditions were misty/foggy.

I have heard that the Rainx brand fluid is known to gum up the sensors. I use the regular blue stuff from Advanced Auto, can't remember who it is made by. Anyways, April 2016 I tried Pinnacle Black Label Glass coating, it was on still March 2017. Still beaded, but was weak. I never had any issues with streaking, or wiper performance.

Ok so what about the waxes though? If there are alcohols in the washer fluid, wont that strip the wax on the car? I ask because this car has headlight washers and they spray the fluid all over the car when you hit the windshield wipers. Does common wiper solvent strip wax?
