    Help with Jeep wrangler

    Hello all!!

I just had the owner of this jeep wrangler bring me her car for a paint correction, but I noticed that this car had someone fix paint chips with touch up paint. How should I correct this area? Will compound help with this, I have meguiars 101, 105, and GG Correcting cream, or should I stick with a polish if it is taking care of the rest of the car's defects? Thank you for your great advice everyone.

    Re: Help with Jeep wrangler

I can't really tell from the picture but let me share how I've dealt with some "paint repairs" in the past. If they are fully dried I will attempt to wetsand them flush when they have been filled sloppily and offer a raised bubble. Maybe 2000 or 3000 grit and limited as much as possible to JUST the errant paint fill in. then I whip out my rotary with a 2" pad and hit the areas with a mid cut polish, maybe a compound but being somewhat careful not to pull the paint out of the hole.

I address those areas first then proceed with correcting the rest of the vehicle including those areas previously leveled with my milder products.

EDIT: The key, as Bill mentioned below me, is how dry is the touch up. Even if its fresh, tape round them and don't touch. Even the tape adhesive can pull out some fresh chip repairs.

Depends on how long the paint cured, if it was just recently, tape over them with painters tape and do not go near them. A DA can cause some issues with recently touched up paint

Trying to get a better picture of them, but the camera on my phone isn't the best. The owner said she purchased the car like that in 2012. They are touch up paint bubbles. I want to make sure I don't remove the touch up paint be in a bigger pickle.

    Thank you for the advice!

I just completed the wash, Iron removal, and clay and this car is in rough shape. I wanted to show the customer a little preview of what to expect, so I did 4 sloooow passes with HD Speed, with my PC and LC white pad, and even I was shocked at the difference! There are still some scratches on the paint, but not bad for a quick preview for the customer.

What if you use the orange pad instead of white? Should make your job easier/faster:

Thats what i was thinking. The plan is to complete the car with my G15 and an orange pad, but since I knew I wasn't going to work on it today, I used one of my stained pink "speed pads" that I used on a previous car. Tomorrow I'll go more aggressive when I go for the final finish.

Lol, no I have a couple "speed pads" and they have their own drawer. It is one great AIO so I don't mind the staining too much.
